Why do I need a DBS Check?

Modified on Mon, 19 Aug at 11:47 AM

York SU is commited to safeguarding all who work with the organisation. As part of this, it is crucial to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults involved in some of the volunteering opportunities available at York SU. It is an essential requirement in most instances for those applying to work with children or adults at risk to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and the information shown on the certificate is then used to ascertain a candidate’s suitability for a particular role.

For our York SU Volunteering Projects delivering sessions, workshops and volunteering in schools/care homes/hospitals etc, this is a requirement to safeguard the vulnerable groups they will be volunteering with.
